Sad Leslie is sad. I sent this piece off to the society of illustrators a year and a half ago and I just got it back today. It looks like it got trampled a few times. The frame is completely busted and will no longer attach to the back panel, the paper pieces have been torn off in a few areas, and sadly the only thing still holding it together is the few bushes and the tree. I don’t know what happened to all the packaging that I wrapped it in when I sent it, but this is kinda ridiculous. Sorry for being a little “blah” but this was one of my favorite pieces that I did my senior year so I’m a little annoyed.

Wow, talk about disrespectful. I assume all of this damage came from shipping and wasn’t intentional but..you would think they could take the time to properly wrap it or ship it higher than standard. You’d think a group that works with artists would understand the importance of treating hard work with care.

HEY ELEMENTARY FANS

Did you like the music on the pilot screener? One of the main repeated tracks is Optimist by Zoe Keating. She’s a supercool independent musician who layers her cello by using a loop pedal and a computer. I’ve seen her do it live and it’s pretty amazeballs.

You know what’s less cool? The fact that CBS used her music in the screener without a license. Which means she didn’t get paid for it being in the screener. (And in fact didn’t know it had been used at all until it got tweeted at her.)

Keep in mind Zoe releases all her music independently, ie. isn’t signed onto any label. This is super sad because if she were signed onto a major label I feel like they’d be all over that. 

You should tweet/email CBS about keeping Zoe’s music for the Elementary premier if you liked it! At the very least I thought I should drum up some publicity on her behalf for having her music in the screener, and get her some more fans because she wasn’t paid anything for the music she provided.
