I always had a problem with the kids who bitched about that in Freshman year. I didn’t feel like doing basic art exercises either, but I learned so much! From the perspective of senior year, the core program’s importance is obvious. You need it to build a standard understanding of concepts, design, and you know. Basic fundamentals. I can’t speak for every school’s core program quality, but at Ringling I can’t stress its importance enough.
