Working with Tom. I particularly like the right hand one, but I owe the shape epiphany to the earlier drawing on the left.
He’s late twenties/early thirties and built like a boulder, so trying to keep him youthful, round and massive is an interesting line to walk with out abusing typical shapes for athletic males.

Plot twist: Castor secretly likes the beardI took this question as an excuse to draw a ridiculous comic…a long time ago. Just got around to cleaning it up. Kinda sorta, as you can tell by how messy it still is.

Character fact Tuesday! Totally cheating on this one, but since it was posted at like 3am, figured no one will notice or care.
Tom can grow a huge full beard pretty quickly. Chalk it up to how manly he is. It isn’t often he lets it grow out though. Come on Castor, he’s not stupid. He’s just not.

Can we just take a moment to celebrate the fact that I finally have one photo that’s at least close to manly enough for Tom? (first, only, others are too lean..and he needs bigger brows) I was legitimately having a hard time locating someone that wasn’t a weeny boy or a hairless set of washboard abs.
Possibly because Tumblr is…Tumblr. BUT LOOK I AM SUCCESSFUL AND IT’S ON MY INSPIRATION BLOG NOW.
Now if only he wasn’t so pretty! It’s a start.

I’ve always had the idea of Tom trying to make sure Castor’s still Castor under the bra, so good to get it on paper. Castor is amused by exactly how difficult this is for Tom, especially since he’s less than sober.
I remembered that in the scripted end of this comic, Castor actually bothered to explain/show and tell Tom what was going on with the gender swapping. So here’s the very late conclusion that was actually scripted and never drawn..though in the original Castor was standing and Tom was half passed out on the couch.

This isn’t even porn, whatever. It started when I wanted to harass Megan more, but ended up with another existential disaster about forcing characters to do things.

Tom has an odd looking cat named Froggy, who was a stray. Tom’s niece and nephew named him. (The name really offends Castor’s senses)
I tried to draw a weird looking cat but getting it to look like a cat is enough success for today.
egriz'n: Character Problems
Does anyone else have a fear of drawing things like it will set them in stone? I don’t always but I’ve seen it happen enough. If I think too much about one possibility too long it sort of cements itself. Sometimes I just really want to draw for the hell of it, but I’m so spurred by my…
Man so many times I’ve drawn a character doing something for the lolz and then three doodles later it’s canon.
Actually I think some characters have developed through accidents… like “oops my hand slipped and now it looks like he has a black eye… hm maybe he gets in fights a lot… maybe he has a really short temper…” and then new personality.
My writing process in general is really mushy like that, hahaha. But I usually don’t worry about breaking a character or anything because, hey, so long as I still like them what does it matter?
This is most likely definitely why none of my stories are ever close to being finished. :I
Definitely a good part of writing and drawing in general! I love it!
I think I was thinking along the lines of using characters for drawing practice and accidently altering them or forcing their hand against character.
