You know what, hamsters aren’t the best at staying still. Here is Kahlo. He is either very young, or a runt, half the size of his cage mates! He also chewed everything on my desk including cords, so he’s back in his cage with his nice wooden block, haha.
He enjoys sleeping upside down in his tube, and climbing into the corner behind and on top of the wheel to sleep? He is therefore Bat Ham.

Humming birds are very friendly and love my red hair in the sunlight. My grandparents have at least five humming bird buddies, but there’s only one in this video. Too bad you can hear all of us yammering.

For Nooby-Banana/The Portal Fandom! Now that’s a blue sky.
I was walking down the tracks admiring the beauty of Michigan when I noticed a field that looked a lot like the one Nooby-Banana used in her Blue Sky/Portal fan art. She said she was unsure how accurate it was, so I thought I’d share exactly how accurate it actually was! Then I thought not all of Michigan is grass, so I took a video of the woods.
I don’t draw Portal whole lot, so I guess my contribution to the Blue Sky fandom is lots of reference of Michigan. As a matter of fact, I took a lot of photos of northern Michigan for that purpose, but I’ll link to that in a moment because video posts are buttheads.

This is Nico, my new Hammie! Apparently my parents thinking I’m depressed = being allowed to get a new rodent becuase I freaking love them.
He is the sweetest ickle fuzzy lumpkins. His cage is 100% pink because I like monochromatic color schemes, but that was before I knew I was getting a boy. He’s just too bad ass to care.
He is named after Nico Marlet, because all of my pets are named after artists that rock.
I can only hope that someday I can meet Mr Marlet and inform him that there is an adorable fluffy hamster named after him. Flattering?

What does English sound like to foreign ears?
We’ve all heard examples of fake Chinese or German from speakers who lack familiarity with either language. While typically cringe-worthy, these examples do raise interesting questions regarding our own language. What does English sound like to non-English speakers? After more than 40 years, Adriano Celentano’s “Prisencolinensinainciusol” remains one of the most illuminating examples.
The entire song is nonsense verse, neither English nor Italian, but the sounds are meant to resemble English. Linguist Mark Liberman wrote an interesting post about this sort of thing over at Language Log discussing yaourter, the French word for an attempt to speak or sing in a foreign language that one doesn’t know all that well. This often involves trying to sing a foreign song with nonsense or random words filling in the blanks. Liberman shares this wonderful quote from a random Internet user:
Just for the story, in France, when we don’t speak English and we want to imitate the sound, we call it “yaourter”(to yoghourt), the imitation sounds like a very nasal language, kind of like a baby crying. It mostly imitates the “cowboy” accent.

also be aware that this is also an american sounding accent and british english would sound as different as it does to them as it does to us

A mother books The Dark Knight Batman for a birthday party. Everything goes as expected.
A runthrough of the level that the Gold Team built for AIPX’s Game Jam! This was an absolute BLAST to work on- it was essentially a non-stop (and incredibly productive) party in the 334 labs- and our team wound up winning the competition with this level! Hooray!
Most of my teammates are not tumblrfolk but my good friend Taylor was not only our captain, but also one of my very patient tutors. I learned so much from her and the other GADs and by the end of the weekend was able to operate Zbrush and unwrap/texture assets without a hitch. The dragon skull, tables, and flag platforms (not the round bit, just the square bases and hooked pillars) were all built/textured by me, and the ice stalactites were a joint effort between Taylor and I. The rest of the assets, textures, and layout were done by the rest of our incredibly talented team. Good job, guys! <3
